God Doesn’t Always Send Healing

The lame walk, the blind saw. The leper was healed, and the dead lived again. The New Testament is full of Christ’s miracles of healing. We read of great faith of many with and without names that are given.

Something the Bible doesn’t say?

It doesn’t say that every single person with an ailment was healed in Judea. It doesn’t say that every single person who had faith to be healed was healed.

Often when I or my family has dealt with a physical ailment, I hear, “I will pray for you.”

Or, “My cousin’s uncle’s niece had that same issue and they prayed and were healed.”

Or, “God will heal you. Just have faith!”

Wonderful people, thank you for praying for us. We really appreciate any and all prayers for our good.

However, sometimes it isn’t in God’s plan to heal the sick or raise the dead. We read in Job about Job loosing his entire family. Yes, he was blessed with another one. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t greatly mourn the loss of his family. No amount of prayer brought them back. No amount of prayer healed Job until it was God’s will for him to be healed. He had ALL the faith.

When my son was dealing with an issue that will likely be lifelong and required surgery, I heard these things from people. It made me immediately question what was wrong with my faith? Was it not enough? Was something wrong with me?

I agonized over these questions leading up to the surgery. Could he be healed?

This particular medical issue for my son is just one of many he deals with.

This is what I have found-

Sometimes healing isn’t supposed to happen in this life.

Often he uses these trials to teach us something.

That His love for me is not dependent on my faith. It exists wholly and completely regardless of where I am in my walk with Him.

When we are taken to that Valley of Shadow, He NEVER leaves us alone. He walks beside us every step of the way, and when we need him to, He carries us.

I appreciate prayers for healing and health. I really do. But before you say something, stop and consider your words.
