Christmas In The Air? Time For A Tree?

I see these designer Christmas trees. They look picture perfect. I think for just one moment, that could be my tree! But then I realize, that I would never want that to be my tree. My Christmas tree is never picture perfect. I don't want a designer tree that sits there and screams perfection. Click To Tweet

Instead, I have all these ornaments that my children made when they could barely hold ornaments. Sure they aren’t pretty, but they are a snapshot of where my children were at that place in time and what they loved during those years.

I have ornaments from places I have visited, sometimes by myself, sometimes with my family. It’s my tradition to pick up unique Christmas tree ornaments where ever I go. One year we added one from Washington State, one from Ireland and one from Scotland. Last year I added a golden maple leaf from Victoria Canada where my Husband and I went for our anniversary.

All of my ornaments evoke precious memories. Time spent with friends, loved ones, family. Memories of precious times, spectacular adventures, dreams coming true.

Isn't that exactly what Christmas was, is, and should be? Loved ones gathered near (even if only in our heart), stories of adventures that came true, like that of the Christ Child, imperfectly perfect yet unbelievably special. Click To Tweet

If designer trees are your thing, own it. Decorate to your heart’s delight. Meanwhile, I’ll be over here with my overgrown Charlie Brown Christmas tree with homemade ornaments, and ones from far off places, relishing the special memories that were made.
