It Takes Love

If you are a regular reader here, you may have noticed that we recently moved across the country due to a transfer with my husband’s job.

What you don’t know is no sooner than we got here, still living in a hotel, having started the process of buying our house, my husband received notification that he was being considered for a different job. It was his dream job. The one he had been applying to for years. The one that makes him drool at the thought of getting to do that work.

But we were buying a house. We had just put the kids in school and moved them across country. This would mean another move to another state.

What should we do?

Since it was just a notification that he was being considered, we continued settling in here. It might never happen. Right?

We bought the house, and were enjoying our new digs. The house was at least halfway unpacked and we were almost a month in. I had completely put the other job out of my mind.

Then came the email. He was offered the job of his dreams. With a promotion, a raise, and moving expenses paid for.

But we had just bought a house! The kids were settled in school and making friends. We were settling into our church congregation. The thought of moving again filled me with dread.

We discussed all our options and knew that if he decided to, he could take the job. It was his dream job. How could he not take it?

He turned down the job of his dreams because of love. Love for his overwhelmed wife. Love for his children who have moved a lot in their lives and are just done with moving. Love for the mental health of his family. It took love.

    I agree.

I hope the person who is doing that job now – I hope it was their dream too.

If it wasn’t their dream, I hope they realise how important it is.

And that loving husband of yours – he really is invested, isn’t he?
